CHAPTER ONE

Once upon a time there lived in a small town, a young man named Peter.  The town which was surrounded by magnificent mountains and vast farmlands was a haven of peace and hard work.  It had about One Million inhabitants.  Children were taught that life was tough and that for anyone to get anything from life he or she had to work extremely hard.

But,there was a problem.  Despite the large number of companies in the Town and the commitment of the numerous owners of business and the employers, their businesses were barely struggling to survive.

Peter was one of such owners.  With his slim, 5ft 2 inches frame, he was considered a chromic workaholic but he had little to show for it.  There were numerous bills to be paid.  His children were at home because they were sent back from school for not paying their fees.  His wife was not in talking terms with him since their financial conduction were growing from worse to worst.  She took them to their grand parents on forced vacation .Creditors were not giving him breathing space while most of his best employees had left him to his plight in search of greener pastures.  His products were not moving fast and the economy was not helping matters.  The tales of woe were numerous not only for him but other businessmen who felt there should be a way out of this mess.

Now, Peter had a friend, Marsh who was also in the business of publishing a magazine. But,Marsh situation looked the exact opposite of Peter’s.  Marsh had only been in this business for 10 years in comparison with Peter’s 15 years experience.  The growth of Marsh’s business was phenomenal and in no time he became the talk of the town. How was he able to build his company so strong and fast where others with greater experience failed? Was he involved in certain sharp practices which people were unaware of? Could black magic be involved? Some of Marsh’s friends had even gone to the extent of sending security agents to investigate his business with the belief that he would be implicated.  But he came out clean on all occasions.

Peter was getting to a point of total frustration and he was thinking of folding up his company when he met Marsh at a little restaurant in the Western part of the town.

This meeting was at the invitation of Marsh after he had a discussion with Peter two weeks ago. They had a hot meal of spaghetti a la napoletana and washed it down with the rich red wine produced by Nadash, a Jewish company based in the town.

“In our last phone discussion, you told me things were not moving well.  Have they improved in anyway”? Marsh asked Peter as he took another sip from his wine glass.

Peter shifted uncomfortably on his seat and shook his head as he managed to utter ” No, the only improvement I have seen is increase in debts to be paid”

“What do you think could be the problem with your business”? Marsh asked.

“Well I don’t think I know.  And besides that, most businesses seem to be experiencing the same situation.  Your business seems to be the odd one out”.

“Really, but you are yet to answer my question”

“What was the question?”

“I said what do you think could be the problem with your business not all the businesses in town?”

Peter looked confused.  “I wish I knew but I don’t.  That is the more reason I decided to keep this appointment with you to see if you can help me out before I fold up. The whole city knows that you are the most prosperous around here. Your corporate assets around the country are worth over 100 million dollars and there are still more coming your way.  You have not being old in this business.  What exactly is your secret of success?” he asked.

Marsh smiled and placed his two hands on Peter’s shoulder. With his eyes fixed on Peter, he spoke, “You think I am very prosperous or successful.  You may be right but I have not even started.  I am a slow learner but from the much I know of you, I believe you can learn faster than me and acquire even greater wealth and peace of mind than I have.  You can run a successful business, which can out live you for generations upon generations”

Peter was getting more uncomfortable.  Numerous thoughts raced through his mind. What could Marsh be involved in which was drawing money to him so fast.  There must be something suspicious about his source of income.  It has been quite some time he saw Marsh last. Could he have been involved in drug trafficking business?  He was so lost in the network of chaotic thoughts bombarding his mind that he was woken up from his mind games by Marsh.

Are you all right?

“Yes”, Peter replied

I guess I know what you are thinking of.  You are wondering if I am in a kind of illegitimate business or not.  I had the same thoughts when I met the World’s Richest Man.  But he doused the flames of my doubts and fear. He told me that he did not get rich or grow his company over night and whatever grew too fast crashed fast.  The instructions he gave to me brought me to where I am today.

Who is this World’s Richest Man, you talk about? Where does he live? Is he a citizen of this town? These and many more questions were gushing out in torrents from Peter’s lips as a light of hope shone through his eyes.

“Take it easy,boy.  Do you really want to improve your business, motivate your staff for peak performance and then experience incredible wealth, Health and Happiness, like I have been blessed with?”

“Yes, of course”, Peter answered with an excited voice.  “Look, Marsh what ever you can do to get my business out of this rot will be highly appreciated.  I will always be grateful to you”

“Peter, you need to really desire the best from your life and business.  This is the starting point to lasting success.  Businesses do not become successful by accident.

They attain success through careful planning, mastery of details, creativity and long-term commitment to see the business work.  Business owners consider their business as babies who desire all the attention they can muster.  That is why you need to be in the business you love.  Do you love your Present business?

Yes, I do.

So, if money was not your problem will you still be doing the same business?

Peter exuding confidence, with his shoulder straightened, gave a big sigh and said, “Yes”.  “Marsh, will you help me”?

If I wasn’t going to help you I would not be asking you all these questions.  We met at the right time.  And you will understand shortly.

As you know, I don’t come to town often because of my vast investment around the country and overseas.  But I had an urgent call to travel to the city of Isra where the Richest Man in the world lives.  You know how prosperous Isra is.  People have sought their secret to great industrialization, technological breakthrough but it seems a best kept secret to the indigenes.  The Richest Man is now old and he will be leaving the city finally to his modest cottage in a private ranch, where he plans to retire and die.

He called me on the phone and told me that the good Lord had revealed to him that he will be going home soon, into the heavenly mansions beyond the veil of the physical.

Now where do I come in? Peter asked.

“Patience my friend,  patience.  You have to learn to listen if you want to tap into the secrets of life”.  He paused ,”Before, he retires to his Ranch; the Richest Man decided that he needed to give the best of his vast Estate to 12 people who will be chosen.  And the only way they could be identified is by the invisible light on their foreheads, which only those who live spiritual and positive lives can see or have.

“Are you saying that the old man wants to share all his property to twelve people and that I may be one of them”? Peter asked excitedly?

“Not so fast my friend.  The old man does not intend to share his property knowing fully well that if you do not have the consciousness for his size of wealth it could do you more harm than good. He knows that these physical properties are temporary but he is giving you something more than these.  He is giving you the exact information through which he acquired his vast fortune and was able to run 7 very successful companies around the world.  He knows that if you can apply the knowledge he is revealing, you will definitely surpass him in achievement in life and still remain a happy man.

The good news is that you have the light in your forehead.  You have been chosen as one of the 12 students to learn from the Richest Man in the world.  The lectures will hold for 12 days at his private residence.   The invitation is confidential.  I must warn you of this.  It is purely confidential. The moment you share this invitation with anybody, you are disqualified.  Wait, till you are through with your instructions and apply them to your business.   As your business flourishes, you will then be able to serve others with what you have learnt.

“Marsh, when is the lecture starting of and where is the invitation card?”

“The lecture is starting in three days time.  You are lucky to be the 12^th person chosen from around other cities.  It is the Old man’s wish that the knowledge finally spread out of the city of Isra to the rest of the World.  In his saying, “A man cannot receive anything except it be given him from above.  Since I have received freely, I now give freely.

Take a few clothes along with you and plain sheets of writing paper.  You do not need books since you will have the opportunity to draw from the fountain of wisdom flowing directly from the lips of the Richest Man in the world.  As for the invitation card, I will give you that on our way out”

Marsh beckoned to the waiter to come with his bill.  He paid it promptly and picking up his jacket, he rose to live the restaurant. Peter sauntered after him.

As they walked to where their cars were packed, there was a noticeable change in the strides Peter took.  Confidence seems to be coming back into him.

Marsh opened his car door, and reached for something at his rear seat.  It was a beautiful and small drinking glass.  He turned around and gave it to Peter.

“This is your invitation card.  It may look strange but when you meet the Richest Man in the World, you will appreciate the essence of this invitation card or glass.

With an air of urgency, Marsh quickly shook Peter’s hands and as he fixed his eyes on him, he said “I will pick you up first thing tomorrow morning so that we can get to Isra on time by the first flight. The Richest Man bought tickets for all the students.  I have to keep another appointment.  You can go and tidy up things at the office to make your trip hitch free .  Thank God, you said your wife and kids are out of town for a while.  They will be amazed at the transformation that will come upon you when they return.  Because, something good is about to happen to you”

And without saying any other word, he slowly entered his Black Mercedes 960 SEL and drove away.

Peter stood there with the glass as if in a shock.  Could this really be happening to him? Soon, he will be meeting the Richest Man in the world and his life will change forever.  Tears of joy streamed down his cheeks as he struggled to hold himself together.  He and his business had gone through hard times.  Now, the sun was about to rise into his life again.  He dusted his brown jacket and walked slowly to his old and rusty black Passat car. He drove straight to the office to make arrangements for his trip.

CHAPTER TWO

The Richest Man,s handshake was firm and packed with confidence.  As Peter held his hands in those brief seconds, he was filled with the excitement of being in the presence of the Richest Man in the world.  To his utter surprise he was looking at a man who though was over seventy years old, was looking like someone in his early forties.  He was a man of average height, with a slightl broad chest, exuding perfect health from every inch of his body. This electrifying personality was dressed in gray suit and looked very humble as he welcomed each of the students to his very magnificent home,20 kilometers east of Is-ra Airport.

There were only twelve guests with him apart from his personal staff.  When we met earlier in the day, Marsh explained the procedure of learning to me.  He said his duty was to get me to attend the lecture but like other sponsors of the rest eleven students, he was not to attend.  He promised to pick me up at the end of the program since he will be attending to some unfinished business in Is-ra.  I felt at home immediately I entered the opulential estate of the Richest Man in the world and subsequent discussion with other students proved the same.

The students had different businesses which were either not doing well or had serious problems. Some were bankers, while there were also manufacturers, Consultants, Insurance CEOs, Administrators and even Business men.

After exchanging pleasantries, the Richest Man who is also called Dr. Dave Sol. led his students to his dining room where excited stewards and stewardesses ,immaculately dressed in white were waiting to serve them.  It was an incredible dinner.  They ate as much as they wanted except for Dr. Sol who ate quite a little.  There wasn’t much said during their meals.  The students were given a recess of one hour to get used to their various rooms in the guest quarters.  Everyone moved their luggages to their various rooms.

By 10:00p.m, they were all seated in the well lit conference room and Dr. Sol began his talk:

Can I see your invitation cards?

Everybody lifted up their empty glasses.

He nodded with a smile of approval.

“I am sure that you were surprised to get those little glasses as invitation cards for this program. You have a right to be.

Man is always afraid of what he cannot explain.  What he does not know, he is suspicious of and if he cannot satisfy his curiosity, he becomes afraid.  The three basic enemies of man are ignorance, fear and suspicion.

Now I want you to listen very carefully, to the importance of the empty glasses you have with you. It is simply the attitude you need to express through out your learning experience here.  You are the last people I will be sharing the secrets, which has made me the most successful businessman in the whole world.  You are being sent as messengers not only to reproduce my success but surpass it.  You will then also fully pass on the secrets to your ready students.  For when the students is ready, the master will appear.

I instructed that you come with empty glasses to show that your mind should be open and receptive to new ideas.  That emptiness is like the mind of a child with all the innocence; ready for an adventure.  You and I know that it is only those who humble themselves as little children, who can enter the kingdom of God . Lay aside your concepts and ideas and listen to me.  Put it into practice and if after 3 months, you do not experience incredible changes in your life and business, you can drop the ideas and go on with your life.  In addition, I have also written a cheque of one Million dollars for each of you.  This will serve as the fee of inconveniencing you if the principles do not work.  You will be welcome to collect the cheque if you are not satisfied after 3 months.

The glasses are small because you need just to know a little to transform your life.  What you don’t know, is what you don’t know.  Use what you know to master what you don’t know.

“Gentlemen, can you kindly open the files you have before you?” Every body went for their files while the Dr. Sol beckoned to one of his personal assistants who had just come into the room with a brown leather, brief case.  Dr. Sol opened the brief case and brought out certain scrolls and the assistant left immediately. 

“You can see in my hands these ancient scrolls.  They are about two thousand years old.  Through methods and laws which man can not understand these scrolls have been passed from the beginning of creation to all the richest men of their times.  Today you are blessed with the opportunity to see it and hear the sound of it’s wisdom.  In your files are copies of the secrets in the scroll for your private study.  The words on these scrolls are fast fading off but you who now have the recently printed copies.  The secrets inside can help you serve your world better”

As you can see from your files, the first lesson you need to learn is:

OF MY OWN SELF I CAN DO NOTHING BUT THE FATHER WITHIN ME, HE DOETH THE WORKS!

Every man born into this world can do nothing of himself except he gets inspiration or empowerment from God.  Some people call this highest being Father-Mother God, Spirit, Infinite intelligence,the Universal mind ,the great I am.  The empty glass shows that it needs to be filled. You must present your life that way to God, admitting your powerlessness to Him.  Those who are healthy do not need physicians.

Your next step, is to recognize that this greater power than  you may call God, can restore back our lives, relationships and businesses.  What you recognize works for you.  Most people cheat themselves from the goodies of life because of their acute sense of pride.  You need to know when you need help and learn to get the attention of the Higher power to help you.

Of course, God is not going to come down to your office and do all you ought to do.  He is going to pour new ideas into your mind.  And applying these ideas will bring you lots of business which will catapult you into prosperity.

You must make a decision to turn your life and business over to the care of God.  You have all tried until you couldn’t go forward any longer.  You all lost hope.  So why keep holding on to the situation you couldn’t handle.  Give it up.  Let go and let God. 

Seek him through prayer and meditation you need to take a proper inventory of yourself.  When you conduct a fearless personal audit, you will come up with certain defects.  You will be amazed at little things you should be doing but you are not.  You may wonder why I seem to concentrate on your personality than the business.  A prosperous business  is an extension of a prosperous mind.  Stop thinking about what is happening to other business and the general economy except you want to learn something positive.  Think of how you can improve yourself and thus reengineer your business.

You need to ask yourself: What is not perfect about my business? What are my weaknesses and my strengths? Do I really like this business or am I in it only for money? Am I envious of those who excel? Am I easily influenced by what other people think or say of me? What is my greatest worry and how do I handle it? Are my intimate associates mentally superior or inferior to me?

Do I take time to analyze my mistakes and failures and see how I can profit from them? Am I really healthy? Do I have a definite purpose for my life?  Do I have a nagging wife or friend around me?Do I have mastery over the details of my life?”

The Richest Man kept quiet for a few seconds, and he continued his array of questions.

What continuing problems is your company experiencing? What practices are out dated? Where is there a waste of money or time in your operations? What is the most frequent customer complaint?

Is there disharmony and dissatisfaction among your employees? Is somebody, probably an associate in your business ripping you off? Do you have good communication through all the levels of management?

There are many questions to ask and my duty is to remind you of these questions.  I will not answer them for you but as you listen to me and follow my instructions, you will find the answers you have been looking for within you and then you will soar into a higher realm of personal and business success.”

“There is a lot of work to be done here, because the time I have to be with you is short.  Make the best use of it.  Listen very well and make sure you do the written exercises given.  So I say, friends, thank you for listening to me.  Reserve your questions for the last day; All your questions will be answered if you are ready to accept the answers.  Just listen and you will learn.  I will see you by 7:00a.m, tomorrow morning and we shall then continue our lesson.  Good day”

With that note of finality, the Richest Man rose from his seat; followed by others, and they all strolled out of the conference room as students shared a few ideas with each other.  Peter was silent as he walked back to his room.  He considered the questions Dr. Sol had asked.  He had a burning desire to know the answers.  Since the Richest Man said he would not tell them but help them discover it, he was keen on finding out the know-how.  He entered his room and locked the door.  In no time, he was fast asleep.
